Lassie Comes Home:

In a small Yorkshire village during the Great Depression, financial pressures cause the parents of young Joe Carraclough (Roddy McDowall) to sell his beloved dog, Lassie, to the Duke of Rudling (Nigel Bruce). After the duke takes the collie to his Scottish estate, his granddaughter (Elizabeth Taylor) recognizes that the dog misses her former owner and allows her to escape. Facing great dangers and small kindnesses on her lengthy journey, the faithful dog sets forth to rejoin her beloved family.

Son of Lassie:

Laddie follows in the paw prints of his heroic mother in this sequel to “Lassie Come Home.” Laddie’s owner, Joe Carraclough (Peter Lawford), enlists during World War II, and the pup joins him at his military camp to train as a war dog. After sneaking onto Joe’s airplane for an ill-fated bombing mission, Laddie finds himself trapped behind enemy lines with Joe. Together they try to evade the Nazis forces. But when Joe gets injured, it’s up to Laddie to come to his rescue.

Courage of Lassie:

Teen Kathie Eleanor Merrick (Elizabeth Taylor) finds a dog in the woods, takes him home and dubs him “Bill.” But after Bill is injured and goes missing, the dog is shipped from hospital to military training center to Europe, where he aids the Americans during World War II. He and Kathie meet again, but Bill, hardened by the war, is quick to turn on strangers. Hoping to keep him out of trouble, Kathie gets help from volunteer lawyer Harry MacBain (Frank Morgan).
